This year’s theme of the festival was “Colours of Harmony” denoting the strength and diversity of Malaysia’s multicultural, multi-racial demographics. This theme was aptly represented by the diverse species of flora and the colourful blooms that were seen.
Amongst the events that were organized was the Flora Photographic Exhibition which was well attended by enthusiasts as well as the general public. A Flora Workshop was held for horticulturists and budding gardeners. While a number of other activities such as the Florathon, Flora Arrangement Competition, Flora Parade, Flora Photography Exhibition & Prize Giving and the Flora Arrangement Competition were also organized.
The Florathon is one of the most popular activities of the agenda and is a 2 km long walking competition. However, unlike regular sports events precedence is given to flower power and not to speed. The winner is decided on the merits of his or her costume, so come dressed in your most colourful and florally inspiring outfit!
